In the high country of the Rockies this time of year, fly fishers are getting antsy after the long winter and more snow than anyone deserves. Frantic searches for misplaced boxes of flies are coupled with desperate pleas for the last of the cold weather to move north with the geese and ducks, and every stream, river, reservoir, lake, and pond gets a second look to see if the ice has finally departed. But most high country waters will remain pretty iced up until late April, at least. So what is one to do? A quick call to Captain Rodney Smith to arrange for some red drum action in Florida's Indian River Lagoon? Catch the next plane to the Belize River Lodge for snapper, bones, permit, and tarpon? Get on the horn to Grant Hartman down at sunny Cabo San Lucas for roosterfish and sierra action?
